Open for applications: the Together Fund

Blue National Cycle Network sign in the green outdoors

We’re happy to share this for Sustrans – the charity making it easier for people to walk and cycle. Sustrans would like you to know about the ‘Together Fund’, for community organisations on or near the National Cycle Network.

Through the fund, you can apply for a grant (up to £10,000) that helps you and your community group improve or enhance spaces along local paths, organise walks and rides, deliver bike maintenance sessions, or hold activities that bring people together.

What is the Together Fund?

It’s a national programme funded by Sport England. Its purpose is to empower community organisations to help people engage in walking, cycling and wheeling – especially people disproportionately affected by Covid-19 and the cost of living crisis. It prioritises groups who support people from culturally diverse communities, low socioeconomic groups, disabled people and people with long-term health conditions.

Thanks to the fund, your community organisation could get:

  • Led walk and ride training to encourage your community to enjoy your local National Cycle Network path
  • Access to bike maintenance training or equipment
  • Tools, training or materials for temporary route signage and wayfinding.

Sustrans is in charge of administering the grants.

You can go to Sustrans’ website to see where the National Cycle Network runs through Birmingham.

Who can apply?

The Together Fund will be available to:

  • Constituted community groups
  • Registered charities
  • Social enterprises
  • Schools
  • Religious groups
  • Community family groups
  • Groups already in receipt of Sport England funding.

When and how can we apply?

The Together Fund is now open for new applications. Sustrans is reviewing applications on an ongoing basis. The application form will close on Tuesday 28 February 2023. You would need to complete your project by Saturday 30 September 2023.

You can use the documents below [both of which will open in a new tab]:

1. Together Fund applicant guidance and FAQs

2. Together Fund application form

Sustrans also has an online version of the form.
